Chinese mixed doubles shuttlers move to Indonesia Masters' semifinals

JAKARTA, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong moved to the mixed doubles semifinals of the 2020 Indonesia Masters tournament after beating their Malaysian rivals on Friday.

The top Chinese duo and champions of the 2019 Indonesia Open, eased past Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying 21-14, 21-13 in 32 minutes to set up a last-four encounter with another Malaysian pair Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing on Saturday.

Tan/Lai outclassed the South Korean shuttlers Ko Sung-hyun/Eom Hye-won in another quarterfinal, 21-7 21-18 in 34 minutes on Friday.

The Indonesia Masters 2020 is taking place from January 14 to 19 at the Istora Senayan sports stadium in the country's capital city of Jakarta.

The total prize money for the event is 400,000 U.S. dollars, which is up about 14 percent on the previous year's event.
