BORMIO, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Swiss alpine skier Franjo von Allmen claimed the first gold medal of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in men's downhill with a time of 1:51.61 here on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Olympic debutant finished 0.20 seconds ahead of Italy's silver medalist Giovanni Franzoni and 0.50 seconds ahead of bronze medalist Dominik Paris, also of Italy.
