China's reigning world titleholder Zhao Xintong thrashed World No. 1 Judd Trump of England 10-3 to claim his first World Snooker Tour Championship title in Sunday's final in Manchester, becoming the first man to win all three events in the Players Series in the same season.
The best-of-19 final was split into two sessions, with Zhao getting off to a flying start to grab a 2-0 lead. Trump bounced back to level the match in the next two frames, but from that point forward, the contest morphed into a one-sided affair.
Zhao claimed three frames in a row, snatching a 5-2 advantage. Trump responded with a break of 52 to trail 5-3 following the first session.
China's World No. 5 cleared the table with authority in the 12th frame, extending his edge to 9-3. And in the 13th frame, a miss from England's Trump allowed Zhao to come back to the table, setting up a run of 51 to clinch the trophy.
Zhao has now won his first six ranking finals. This title bookends his World Grand Prix and Players Championships from February, making the 29-year-old the first potter to complete an unprecedented hat-trick of Players Series titles in a single campaign.
He will also move up to fourth in the updated world rankings.
