China's Shi Yuqi and the Republic of Korea's An Se-young triumphed in the men's and women's singles finals, respectively, at the Badminton Asia Championships in front of passionate home fans in Ningbo on Sunday, each capturing their first crowns at the prestigious continental event.

Both shuttlers entered the competition with impressive résumés, boasting world titles and victories at all four BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournaments, but the trophy at this event had previously evaded them.

Shi faced a spirited challenge from India's Ayush Shetty, a surprise finalist in the men's draw. Despite Shetty's commendable efforts, Shi displayed a masterclass in execution and strategy, easing to a swift 21-8, 21-10 victory.

In stark contrast, the women's singles final evolved into a riveting 100-minute confrontation. After An and China's Wang Zhiyu split the first two games, signs of fatigue became evident during several lengthy rallies in the decider. After the score was tied at 15-15, An demonstrated remarkable composure, closing out the final points needed to seal the deal 21-18, with the triumph also avenging her recent loss to Wang at the All England Open.

The men's and women's doubles finals showcased all-Korean and all-Chinese rivalries, respectively. The ROK's top-ranked duo of Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae defeated compatriots Kang Min-hyuk and Ki Dong-ju 21-13, 21-17 to clinch the men's doubles crown.

On the women's side, China's World No. 1 duo of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning were forced to withdraw due to injury just seven minutes into their match, handing the title to Li Yijing and Luo Xumin by default.

In mixed doubles, Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran were also unable to play in the final, allowing the ROK's Kim Jae-hyeon and Jang Ha-jeong to be awarded the title via walkover.
