The World Snooker Championship continued at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, where Ding Junhui advanced after a 10-5 victory over David Gilbert in the opening round, setting up an all-Chinese clash with Zhao Xintong.

Ding had led 7-2 overnight, having produced breaks of 94, 74, 100, 72, and 52 during the first session.

Gilbert took the opening frame and led 57-1 in the next, before Ding capitalised with a 65 clearance to move ahead 8-3.

The Englishman responded by winning two frames back-to-back with breaks of 78 and 59.

Ding regained control with a century break of 106 to extend his lead to 9-5.

The 39-year-old, making his 20th main draw appearance at the Crucible, was then presented with a snooker opportunity.

Gilbert was unable to escape the position and left a free ball for Ding.

The former world number one closed out the match 10-5 with a final break of 61, securing his place in the next round against defending champion Zhao Xintong.
