Top seed Jannik Sinner eased into the men's quarterfinals at the Madrid Open with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Cameron Norrie on Tuesday.
Sinner needed less than 90 minutes to win and reach the quarterfinals in Madrid for the second time. He also extended his winning streak to 20 matches as he looks to add Madrid to his titles in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo earlier this year.
"This surface is very different to all the other surfaces so it's very tough to get the right feedback and sometimes you feel like you are not playing your best."
"But I'm very happy to be in the quarters again, it's a tournament I haven't played a lot, so it means a lot to me and I'm happy to be through in two sets," Sinner said after the win.
The Italian will play local favorite Rafael Jodar after the 19-year-old wildcard continued his impressive run with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Vit Kopriva.

Arthur Fils notched a 6-3, 6-4 win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Both players had to defend well and faced break points, but Fils came through with a break in each set while saving all five break points against him.
Also on Tuesday, Casper Ruud rallied past Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3) in a marathon match, while 11th seed Jiri Lehecka beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-3.
In the women's competition, ninth seed Mirra Andreeva showed her resilience to qualify for the semifinals after coming back from 4-1 down in the first set to beat Canada's Leylah Fernandez 7-6 (1), 6-3.
In a later match, 30th-seeded Hailey Baptiste stunned top seed Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6) for her first win over a top-five opponent and will play in a WTA 1000 semifinal for the first time.
