GUIYANG, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese gymnasts delivered a dominant performance on the rings on Saturday, claiming both senior and junior gold medals at the Asian Championships in Zunyi, southwest China's Guizhou Province.
In the senior division, Yang Haonan captured the rings title with a score of 14.566 points, while Zhang Boheng took silver with 14.400. Iran's Mahdi Ahmadkohani earned bronze with 14.100 to complete the podium.
The floor exercise gold went to the Philippines, while Uzbekistan topped the pommel horse standings. In addition to his rings silver, Zhang Boheng also added a silver medal in the pommel horse final, scoring 14.400 points in that apparatus as well.
In the junior division, Chen Junji led a Chinese one-two finish in rings, securing gold with 13.566 points ahead of teammate Dong Li, who scored 13.466. Japan captured the junior floor exercise and pommel horse titles, while China's Zhang Mohan earned bronze in floor exercise.
For Chen, a Zunyi native, winning gold on home soil carried special significance. "My parents, grandparents, and many relatives and friends came to watch me compete, which gave me so much energy," he said. "I also want to thank the fans for their warm support. I feel very excited and truly happy."
The men's competitions in both the senior and junior championships will conclude on June 21.
