CAIRO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian athlete Asil Osama won the women's javelin throw gold medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, the United States, claiming her country's first ever medal in a women's event at the tournament.

Osama secured the title with a throw of 59.82 meters, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday.

Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Jawhar Nabil congratulated Osama, the Egyptian Athletics Federation and the team's technical, medical and administrative staff on the achievement.
