China's Wu Yibing has been promoted into the men's singles main draw of the 2026 US Open on Thursday following a wave of withdrawals, bringing the total number of Chinese mainland players in the singles main draw to five.

The 26-year-old, ranked world No. 118, secured his spot as a late replacement. The US Open confirmed on Thursday that a string of withdrawals - Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Ethan Quinn, Emilio Nava, Sebastian Korda and Gabriel Diallo - moved him up from fifth alternate.

It will be Wu's third US Open main-draw appearance. He previously reached the third round as a qualifier in 2022.

The Chinese mainland will have five representatives in the singles main draw at this year's US Open: Wang Xinyu, Zhang Shuai and Wang Xiyu in the women's singles, and Shang Juncheng and Wu Yibing in the men's singles.

Former world No. 4 Zheng Qinwen, whose ranking has slipped to No. 127 after injuries and a slow return to form, will compete in the women's qualifying.

On the men's side, Zhang Zhizhen and Bu Yunchaokete are also in the qualifying field, with Bu currently standing as the fourth alternate for the main draw.

The 2026 US Open qualifying runs from August 24 to 27, with the main draw scheduled for August 30 to September 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
