RIJEKA, Croatia, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- China won the mixed team event at the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships here on Monday, securing its second gold medal and fourth medal overall of the competition.

The Chinese team of Xie Jianyi, Nie Jun, Kan Zilong and Yuan Qingcheng finished with 414.55 points, 38.70 points ahead of Mexico, while Russia took bronze.

China was third after the springboard section, behind Russia and Mexico, before surging into the lead on platform. Nie produced a forward four-and-a-half somersaults worth a team-high 90.65 points after contributing 72.00 points on the 3m springboard.

"This medal is comforting; it represents a teamwork spirit," Xie said after the win.

After four days of competition, China has collected two gold medals, one silver and one bronze, sitting second in the medal table.

Russia leads the medal tally after winning two titles on Monday. In the boys' synchronized platform, Kirill Kosimov and Miroslav Kiselev rose from sixth place to win with 301.14 points, just 1.38 ahead of Australia's Archie Forsyth and Hayden Brinckley. Britain's Jorden Fisher-Eames and Robbie Wood took bronze with 298.71 points.

Kiselev, 14, claimed his second junior world title after winning the boys' Group B platform on Sunday.

Russia's Viktoria Kazantseva won the girls' Group A 3m springboard ahead of teammate Nadezhda Trifonova, while Ukraine's Kseniia Bochek took bronze.

The girls' synchronized 3m springboard and boys' Group A 1m springboard competitions will take place on Tuesday.
