WASHINGTON, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- China's Yin Ruoning won the FM Championship on Sunday at TPC Boston for her sixth career LPGA Tour title, holding off South Korea's Kim Hyo-joo by two strokes.

Yin shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at 14-under 274 and claimed her first LPGA Tour victory since the 2024 Maybank Championship.

Yin, playing in the final group with Kim Hyo-joo and Kim Sei-young of South Korea, briefly lost the lead on the back nine before regaining control.

Yin responded on the par-5 12th, rolling in a 25-foot birdie putt to pull even with Kim Hyo-joo. She then parred the next five holes before closing with another birdie on the par-5 18th to secure the victory.

Yin became emotional after securing the victory on the 18th green. "It's just been so long since my last win," Yin said. "I know I work hard and also my team, my mom is here. Just everything comes together."

The victory ended a lengthy drought for Yin, who had gone 34 LPGA Tour starts without a win since her breakthrough three-win season in 2024. She had finished runner-up four times during that stretch.

"At that time [in 2024] I was feeling like I'm one of the best players out there," Yin said. "But I didn't win last year, and that made me feel like, 'Am I still one of the best?' I keep questioning myself. I think I've learned a lot this year. I read an article the other day that says some people, their life starts at 40. Some people, their life starts at 24. But life really starts when you don't live in other people's comments, don't live in other people's expectations. That's when your life starts. I get tears in my eyes even when I think about it. I'm just glad I saw that article."

Yin will next represent China to compete at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September before returning to Shanghai for the Buick LPGA tournament.
