BERLIN, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Paris Saint-Germain maintained its perfect start to the UEFA Champions League with a commanding 6-0 victory away to Villarreal on Tuesday, scoring four goals in the opening 17 minutes to set a competition record.

The defending champion extended its winning streak to four matches and consolidated its position at the top of the standings.

Luis Enrique's side broke the deadlock in the ninth minute when Joao Neves scored following a corner.

Desire Doue doubled the lead three minutes later after goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi's attempted clearance struck Maghnes Akliouche, allowing PSG to regain possession and create another opening.

Senny Mayulu made it 3-0 in the 13th minute, reacting quickest after Neves had his initial effort blocked following another turnover near the penalty area.

Fabian Ruiz added a fourth four minutes later, finishing a move that began with another turnover high up the pitch, with Akliouche providing the assist.

PSG remained in control for the rest of the first half, with Ruiz and Doue threatening again, while Ayoze Perez created a rare opening for the hosts shortly before the interval.

The visitors continued to dominate after the restart, and Ruiz completed his brace in the 50th minute, meeting a long free kick with a controlled finish through Gulacsi's legs.

Villarreal failed to seriously trouble goalkeeper Matvey Safonov despite efforts from Pape Gueye and Georges Mikautadze.

Making his Champions League debut, 17-year-old David Boly completed the rout in the 78th minute with his first goal in the competition.

PSG leads the standings with 12 points from four matches, while Villarreal dropped to 29th with three points.

Elsewhere, Barcelona climbed to second after defeating Aston Villa 3-0, ending the Premier League side's perfect start and leaving it third on goal difference. Bayern Munich moved into eighth following a 2-0 victory away to Atletico Madrid, while Inter Milan defeated Feyenoord 3-0.

Also on Tuesday, Manchester United edged Roma 3-2, Sporting CP beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, Galatasaray overcame Stuttgart 2-0, LASK thrashed Slovan Bratislava 4-0, and Bodo/Glimt and Lille played out a 0-0 draw.
