BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Seven Shenzhen fans' groups issued a letter on Tuesday urging public support for financially stricken Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shenzhen FC.
"In 2023, Shenzhen FC is striving to survive by reducing costs and increasing revenues," read the letter, which called on the Shenzhen residents to "support the football team of Shenzhen."
Shenzhen FC, along with the CSL's Chengdu Rongcheng and Guangzhou City, have been omitted from the debt-free club list released by the Chinese Football Association on Monday.
Former Shenzhen's Brazilian striker Alan Kardec, who played for Shenzhen from 2021 to 2022 and then returned to Brazil and joined Atletico Mineiro, said on Monday on social media, "with great sadness I got a message in the morning saying that the (Shenzhen) club will end soon around March 20."
