KUNMING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 Kunming Plateau Half Marathon will kick off on March 28 in Kunming City in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The event includes a half marathon, a 10km run and a parent-child run. A total of 15,000 runners will participate in the event, including 8,000 half-marathon runners.

Kunming is locally known as the "city of eternal spring" and has an altitude of around 1,800 meters. Organizers said all the participants will feel the beauty of the Spring City.

Since its founding in 2012, the Kunming Plateau Half Marathon has been successfully held eight times. From 2016 to 2019, the event won the Chinese Athletics Association's "Gold Medal Race" award, and has become one of the country's most popular road races.
