BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona is "very well" following brain surgery on a blood clot, his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque said on Sunday.

The personal physician of Argentine former football star and coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata Diego Maradona, Leopoldo Luque, gives a medical report at the entrance of the private clinic where Maradona underwent a brain surgery for a blood clot, in Olivos, Buenos Aires Province, on November 6, 2020. Maradona, 60, underwent surgery by Luque on November 3.

Luque ruled out discharging Maradona on Monday, saying "the idea is that he does not leave tomorrow," although "he is very lucid and very well."

Maradona was hospitalized on November 2 in La Plata, a city 50 kilometers from Buenos Aires, due to symptoms of anemia and depression.

At that health center, doctors detected a blood clot the next day, caused by a blow to the head, and transferred him to the Olivos Clinic.
