HAVANA, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Riccardo Fraccari, president of the World Baseball-Softball Confederation on Friday criticized the politicization of sports.
"Sports and politics must not be mingled. Anything that could limit the participation of athletes at the Olympics is not right," he told Xinhua.
The remarks were made during a press conference in Havana on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Cuba's Baseball National Series.
During his visit to the Caribbean nation, Fraccari met with Cuba's sports authorities and attended a baseball exhibition game at Havana's Latin American Stadium.
On Saturday, he is scheduled to participate in the opening of baseball and softball academies on the island.
