The Republic of Korea (ROK) will join hands with China and Japan to hold a three-state eSports tournament in November, announced ROK's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Thursday.

The tournament will contain four competitions on different platforms including PC and cellphone. Considering that the new coronavirus may remain a threat, the event may happen online.

No specific video game has been named yet for the tournament, but considering the trend, platform and participants, League of Legends (LOL), Honor of Kings, Super Smash Bros. Brawl are all potential choices.

That won't be the only new multi-nation eSports event this year. The annual LOL tournament Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) was cancelled this year because of COVID-19 pandemic but the ROK side came up with something new: League of Legends Pro League (LPL)- League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) contest.

According to LOL reporter "kenzi," the new event is called Mid Season Cup and will contain eight teams – four from each side – that will fight for prize money online between May 28 and 31. kenzi also revealed which teams will participating the event:

LOL: JDGaming (JDG), Top Esports (TES), FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) and Invictus Gaming (iG)

LCK: T1, Samsung Galaxy (Gen. G), Dragon (DRX) and DAMWON Gaming (DWG)

JDG just won the spring season championship of LOL last week and they in the final defeated TES which landed a world-class bot laner Yu Wenbo "JackeyLove." Moreover, FPX and iG are the title winners of 2019 and 2018 League of Legends World Championship respectively. At last from the LPL side, top performance can be expected.
