Speed skating: China take five medals at Four Continents

Chinese speed skaters took a gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships in Quebec, Canada over the weekend.

The Chinese women's team, comprised of Zhang Lina, Pei Chong and Yang Binyu, captured the gold medal in the short distance team pursuit, a non-Olympic event, at one minute, 30.596 seconds. The Chinese men's team finished fifth.

In the women's mass start, Yang Binyu finished second with 9:15.300, and Shen Hanyang won a bronze medal in the men's mass start at 8:16.409.

The Canadian trio of Beatrice Lamarche, Valerie Maltais and Maddison Pearman won the gold medal in the women's team pursuit, finishing first in a time of 3:06.877. China was second (3:11.190) and South Korea was third (3:11.273).
South Korea won the men's team pursuit ahead of Canada, and China ranked third to take the bronze medal.

Canada's Calgary is set to host the next two consecutive ISU World Cup competitions, on December 9-11 and December 16-18.
