5G infrastructure to help Thailand’s economy recover

Bangkok (People's Daily) – A leading provider of a mobile phone network in Thailand announced a plan to establish a 5G infrastructure in 77 provinces on Thursday.

The plan aims to support the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), as well as industry leaders in all sectors to drive the country’s economy, society and sustainable development, AIS, the provider, said.

“Bringing digital technologies such as 5G to integrate into the associated processes of the industries will help transform Thailand to  best overcome the current pandemic crisis,” said Mr. Hui Weng Cheong, the president of AIS. “The company has prepared to invest 35 to 45 billion baht (1.1 to 1.4 billion USD) this year to develop the country’s digital infrastructure.”
