China to expand Intelligent+ initiative to transform traditional industries

China will create industrial Internet platforms and expand Intelligent Plus initiatives to facilitate transformation and upgradation of manufacturing sector, according to the government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on Tuesday.

In order to promote the high-quality manufacturing, the report emphasizes the need to strengthen the foundations of industry and boost technological innovation capability, as well as to enhance the integrated development of advanced manufacturing and modernized services.

China promises to strengthen the supporting capacity of quality infrastructure, upgrade the standards to meet advanced international ones, Li added.

In the emerging industries, like next-generation information technology, high-end equipment, bio-medicine, and new energy automobiles, China will invest heavily on the R&D sectors, and pursue Internet Plus initiatives in all industries and sectors.

When talking about the ability to strengthen scientific and technological development, Li expressed that the support for basic research and application-oriented basic research will be increased so as to step up original innovation.

An enterprise-led mechanism for bringing together firms, universities and research institutes will be put into place to help boost innovations, and the system of punitive compensation for IP infringements will also be protected to promote invention and creation, as well as their industrial application.
