Chinese scientist Wang Yu was appointed as the new president of the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (ICRA), the ICRA announced on Friday, making him the first Chinese president in the history of ICRA.
Wang, 38, has been engaged in astrophysics research for many years. He was admitted to the School of Physics, Southeast University in 2003, and came to ICRA to engage in research in astrophysics after graduating with a Ph.D.
"As a Chinese, I am responsible and obliged to boost the cooperation and exchanges between the ICRA and China, promoting the development of astronomy and astrophysics," Wang said. "I hope more people will love science due to my efforts."
