SHIJIAZHUANG, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong emphasized the importance of boosting the digital economy for high-quality development at an expo that opened Friday in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province.

Wang made the remarks when attending the 2019 China International Digital Economy Expo, scheduled from Oct. 11 to 13 and themed "Digital Economy Leads High Quality Development."

Opportunities brought by the rapid development of the global digital economy should be seized, noted Wang, suggesting strengthening new-generation information infrastructure, improving digital technology and pushing industrial innovation.

The digital economy's application in the manufacturing, agriculture and service industries should be accelerated, said Wang.

Wang also called for international cooperation, better market supervision and more complete laws and regulations for the digital economy's healthy development.
