High-speed railway in East China reconstructed in seven hours

More than 1,000 workers managed to reconstruct the Shanghai-Chengdu high-speed railway Tuesday morning in less than seven hours, the first of its kind in China. (Photos by Shi Jiamin and compiled by Peng Temin)

The reconstruction project involved 4,540 meters of tracks, and more than 840 sets of machinery and equipment were used during the operation.

The construction, which is a key project of a mega water diversion project taking water from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River, connects a newly-built line with the existing one.
