Infographic: China's auto exports surge in 2024

Since becoming the world's largest automobile exporter for the first time in 2023, China has achieved another significant milestone in its auto export performance in 2024.

In 2024, China exported a total of 5.859 million vehicles, marking 19.3 percent year-on-year growth. Specifically, traditional fuel vehicles accounted for 4.574 million units, a 23.5 percent increase, while new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 1.284 million units, rising by 6.7 percent.

The 2024 data was released on January 13 by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), showcasing the continued expansion of China's auto export sector.

The growth in China's auto exports has been rapid over the past four years, nearly tripling from 2.015 million units in 2021 to 5.859 million units in 2024.

According to data from the first three quarters of 2024, the top three destinations for Chinese auto exports were Russia, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. Other notable markets in the top 10 include Belgium, Australia and Brazil, indicating the strong global competitiveness of Chinese automobiles.

It is also worth noting that over the past decade, the proportion of NEVs in China's total auto production and sales has been steadily increasing, highlighting the rapid development of China's NEV industry.
