According to locals, autumn is the best season in the Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve. Sitting at the northwest of Deqen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan's Province, the reserve is an unspoiled place and home to wildlife.

The reserve consists of a group of mountains with altitude ranging from 2,000m to 5,000m. The main peak is 5,430m above sea level. The plants' vertical distribution is caused by such high altitude drop. During autumn, the plants turned from golden to yellow and dark green.
