Visitor arrivals in Macao surge 271.4 percent in March

MACAO, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals in Macao surged 271.4 percent year on year to 1,956,867 in March, the Macao Special Administrative Region's (SAR) statistical agency said on Monday.

The figure represented a month-on-month rise of 22.8 percent, showed the latest report from the Statistics and Census Service.

Overnight visitors and same-day visitors soared 522.7 percent and 164.5 percent year on year to 979,152 and 977,715, respectively.

The number of visitors from the Chinese mainland grew 164.9 percent year on year to 1,242,358, while visitors from China's Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan region rocketed by 1,077.2 percent and 477.5 percent year on year to 622,304 and 26,645, respectively.
