COLOMBO, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's President's Media Division (PMD) on Monday announced that officials have opened exclusive counters for foreign travelers arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport, the country's main airport.
This is an attempt to encourage more foreigners to visit Sri Lanka and reduce congestion at the airport, said the PMD.
It added the decision was made upon a recommendation by a tourism development committee appointed by the president.
Earlier this month, Sri Lanka increased its tourist arrival target to 2 million in 2023, an increase from the previous target of 1.5 million.
