Unexpected snow causes traffic jam in southwest China

A burst of heavy snow unexpectedly fell in Ganzi, southwest China's Sichuan Province on Tuesday. (Photos: VCG & People's Daily)

Since it happened in China's National Day holiday and Sichuan is a renowned tourism destination, thousands of visitors there are stranded on the road.

The local government has organized staff to deliver food and medicines to detained visitors, but the staff has to walk all the way because of heavy traffic.

Visitor who got help have expressed their sincere gratitude to the local police.

Local police have reminded potential tourists to change their travel plans due to snow and ice.
