The move aims to enable tourists in northern China to better understand the exotic charm of the resort, says Wang Qiang, head of the Yading resort management bureau.

To date, local authority is striving to evolve Yading into one of the best mountain tourism destinations worldwide.

"We'd like to bring tourists a different culture and visual experience that will excite their senses," Wang says.

Yading will explore cooperation with travel agencies and self-drive clubs in the capital to increase its presence in the northern market.

Yading sits in southern Daocheng county, Garze Tibetan autonomous prefecture. The place is considered by many to be one of the few remaining pristine lands on earth. It was first brought to the attention of the Western world by Joseph Rock, an American explorer, who presented the stunning beauty of Yading in National Geographic magazine in 1931.

The region went viral on the popular video-sharing app Tik Tok, raking in 2.9 billion hits by the end of 2018, according to the local authority.
