CNN host Brianna Keilar sparred with White House trade adviser Peter Navarro over the White House's coronavirus response as the pandemic continues to spread in the US.
The conversation between Keilar and Navarro, which took place on her show Thursday afternoon, began when the host said the administration was "ill-prepared" to handle the coronavirus pandemic, specifically in regard to the number of ventilators available.
Instead of answering the host's question about whether the US could meet the ventilator's needs, the trade adviser slammed China, saying that "our country is in a terrible situation because of China".
"You’re wasting everyone’s time with this. It's 2020," Keilar said. "The president was elected in 2016. Can you get to a million ventilators?"
"Peter, if you think that speaking in facts and truth is frightening to people, you have a problem," she replied, pointing to the Society of Critical Care Medicine's estimate that medical professionals will require approximately one million ventilators to treat coronavirus patients in critical condition.
