On August 13, a message from Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University said that a major breakthrough on Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been made by its research team led by Jia Jianping, chief physician and professor. They discovered that exosomal GAP43, neurogranin, SNAP25, and synaptotagmin 1 act as effective biomarkers for prediction of AD, which can be tested 5 to 7 years earlier before AD’s cognitive impairment.

The article Blood neuro‐exosomal synaptic proteins predict Alzheimer's disease at the asymptomatic stage was published online with open access on August 10 in the international medical journal Alzheimer's and Dementia.
