Head of ITAR-TASS’s Beijing Bureau Andrey Kirillov recently stated, “In 1986, I first came to China. When most Beijingers talked to me at first, they felt very strange that a foreigner could speak Chinese.” His early years in the country remain fresh in his memory. Nowadays, he notices that foreigners in Beijing can speak Chinese better and also that more and more Chinese citizens can speak foreign languages. Kirillov is the subject of this micro-documentary. It is part of a series about foreigners' views of the city, known as 40 Years On — Beijing Blooming with Us and is called A Russian Journalist’s Happy Life in Beijing.
