The Hangzhou Bay Bridge crosses over the ocean to connect Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang Province, China. This bridge shortens the distance between Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, and is an important part of the urban expressway network in northeast Zhejiang.
Mary Paulson, a teacher from the United States, was invited by Ningbo’s local media outlet Ningbo Evening News to Hangzhou Bay to visit the command center of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge and the service area on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay.
During this trip, Paulson learned how the bridge was built and its pivotal role in economic development. She also tasted the traditional Chinese food zongzi at the bridge.
