An octogenarian makes terracotta chariot with 900 bamboo sticks

Zhang Tianwei, an 83-year-old man from Xi’an, Northwest China’s Shaanxi, spent four months building a dynamic terracotta chariot from more than 900 bamboo sticks. The four horses and the warriors are flexible.

Zhang is the inheritor of Zhang’s kite, an intangible cultural heritage of Shaanxi Province. It has been 70 years since he made his first kite, and he insists on innovation and hopes to pass on this skill.
