Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted US bases in Iraq, including al-Asad and Harir Camp to the north of Erbil, with two waves of surface-to-surface missiles on Wednesday. This military operation was regarded as Iran's revenge for the US killing of Soleimani earlier this month. Aside from US-Iran relations, geopolitical relations in the Middle East have also been strained.
People's Daily invited Tang Zhichao, Director of the Division of Middle East Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Zhang Mengxu, People's Daily correspondent based in Washington DC, to share their insights on the conflict between Iran and US and its implications to the region.
