A migrating herd of 15 wild elephants was spotted heading northwest near the central district of Kunming, the capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, on June 5, and local authorities have mobilized resources to guide them southwest, back toward Yuxi City. The herd entered Kunming after walking for more than 40 days, according to local authorities. The elephants, initially living in a national nature reserve about 500 kilometers away from Kunming, arrived in Jinning District on Wednesday night. Firefighters are monitoring the herd around the clock with the help of drones.
