Polar icebreaker the Zhongshan Daxue Jidi has successfully conducted sea trials in the ice of Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Sea.
China's third such ship after Xuelong and Xuelong-2, the Zhongshan Daxue Jidi completed tests of its low-temperature navigation, icebreaking, scientific research equipment and research support in icy seas.
Zhongshan Daxue Jidi set out on January 17 from the South China Sea, then voyaged through fierce winter winds and waves across the East China Sea and Yellow Sea before arriving in Liaodong Bay.
The ship is owned by Sun Yat-sen University, also known as Zhongshan University, a national key public research university located in Guangzhou, South China.
