In September 2018 the Thousand Villages Demonstration and Ten Thousand Villages Renovation, a green rural revival project planned and promoted by Xi Jinping, received the Champions of the Earth award, the United Nation's highest honor for environmental protection. As part of her trip, Tina visited Meilin village in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, the birthplace of this award-winning project. This project successfully combined economic development and environmental restoration, transforming the village into a model for the future.
