Breaking boundaries: Newest Olympic sport meets Kung Fu
In Paris this summer, breakdancing, or “breaking” will move from the streets to the stadium as it debuts as an Olympic sport. For the first time in Olympic history, 32 breakers (16 B-boys and 16 B-girls) will compete in one-on-one battles. Over the years, breaking has been influenced by a number of cultural sources, including African-American and Afro-Caribbean music, capoeira and Kung Fu, or Chinese martial arts.
