Drums beat and lanterns glow as Xinpo village in Putian, Fujian Province, comes alive ahead of the Lantern Festival. On February 27, villagers staged their signature "Thousands of Baskets, Ten Thousand Plates" procession, held every 11th day of the Lunar New Year. Led by this year's "Fushou," or residents turning 62 by traditional counting, families carry ornate plates through the streets in a colorful parade that draws crowds of locals and overseas Chinese visiting for the festivities.
