Once listed as endangered, the snow leopard is making a comeback. Stronger protection measures across the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau in recent years have helped safeguard the species. Now these elusive cats, known locally as the "the plateau spirit," are increasingly being captured by camera traps and photographers. With a scientific rescue and release system in place, each animal returned to the wild plays its part in balancing the highland ecosystem.
