Historic first: Runners break two-hour barrier at London Marathon
Kenya's Sabastian Sawe made history at the London Marathon on Sunday, winning in 1:59:30, the first official sub-two-hour marathon ever. Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha, running his marathon debut, finished second in 1:59:41, the fastest debut in history.
Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo claimed third place with 2:00:28. All three runners shattered the previous world record of 2:00:35 set by the late Kelvin Kiptum in Chicago in 2023.
