China supports Pakistan in playing a fair and balanced mediating role in promoting regional peace, China said Thursday. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press conference in Beijing when asked whether China and Pakistan would discuss the Iran situation during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's upcoming visit to China. Guo said that China and Pakistan will have in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest during Sharif's visit. China will work with Pakistan and other members of the international community, in the spirit of the four-point proposal put forward by President Xi Jinping, to make positive efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East at an early date, he said.
