China's biodiversity: Bubble Bamboo rides the waves with Chinese white dolphins
On this year's World Environment Day (June 5), join giant panda Bubble Bamboo in Xiamen Bay in east China's Fujian Province as he reunites with his childhood friend, a Chinese white dolphin. In this series, our cuddly adventurer treks across vast plateaus, lush grasslands, and winding rivers to reunite with his childhood buddies through their matching friendship badges. The bay is home to one of the world's most significant populations of Chinese white dolphins, with China's coastal waters now supporting around 5,000 – roughly 80 percent of the global total, the result of years of sustained conservation efforts. Xiamen is also a candidate city to host the Secretariat of the Agreement on Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.
