Over the past 30 years, 89-year-old Lei Yueqin has created seven hand-drawn maps documenting the revival of the Guancheng River in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou Province. In a 2004 drawing, the waterway was shaded gray and labeled as a "dead river." After the remediation work that began in 2019, Lei finished her seventh map in 2025, painting clear sparkling waters across the page. (Video source: Global Times)
