When it comes to putting people's livelihoods first, water management is key. From ensuring safe drinking water in rural areas to protecting the ecological environment of rivers and lakes, President Xi Jinping has always made improving people's well-being the starting point and ultimate goal of his water governance efforts. In this episode, we look into the transformation of Xihaigu. Once one of the poorest areas in the country, the region comprises nine counties and districts that fall under jurisdiction of the three cities of Guyuan, Zhongwei and Wuzhong in the southern Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
