Why China's soft power is gaining ground
A new Pew Research Center survey found that China is viewed more favorably than the US in 25 of the 36 countries surveyed, a first since Pew began tracking global attitudes in 2002. In an exclusive interview with People's Daily, Gao Jian, director of the Centre for Sino-Britain Cultural Exchange at Shanghai International Studies University, said China's rising soft power is built on its growing hard power. He added that Chinese modernization, win-win cooperation and Chinese wisdom have contributed to China's global appeal by offering solutions to shared challenges.
