Chilean Hector Merino discovered acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) while seeking treatment for back pain, sparking decades of interest in the field. Inspired by Hector, his son Rodrigo enrolled at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2023.
