Have you ever wondered what opportunities and challenges copyright faces in an age when AI-generated creativity is flourishing? At the 2026 International Copyright Forum in Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu Province, Daren Tang, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization, offered his answer on Monday. "We should look at AI as a balance: How can we make use of AI as a way to empower and support a new generation of creators? What's very important is that we must make sure that the human creator remains at the center of the copyright system. The role of technology is not to substitute, replace, or sideline human creators. The role of technology must be to empower, enable, and support human creators. That's the right balance," said Tang. (Produced by Xu Zheqi, Zeng Yichen, Zou Yun and intern Li Jialu)
