Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Beijing and wrapped up his first overseas tour this year on March 27.
During his tour to three European countries from March 21 to 26, he visited five cities—Rome, Palermo, Monaco, Nice and Paris—and attended more than 40 bilateral and multilateral events.
The tour elevated China's ties with Italy, Monaco and France to a new level, and injected new impetus into the China-Europe comprehensive strategic partnership, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters when asked about his impression of Xi’s trip on March 25 local time in Paris, according to Xinhua News Agency.
As the world undergoes profound changes unseen in a century, Xi's Europe tour was dedicated to deepening cooperation, improving global governance, and upholding multilateralism, which shows China's sense of responsibility as a major country, Wang said.
It was a trip of friendship, cooperation and exploration that delivered results, the minister added.
During the tour, the three countries staged grand welcome ceremonies for Xi. Xi also attended other events aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and friendship, and cooperation. Click on the video for the highlights of Xi’s visit.
